question i should know by now
ok, i have learnt a lot about my car, for instance it has a 1.8l engine. after all this time i neglected to learn what it means. If a car has a 1.8l engine what does that mean, how many litres of what? sorry guys, guess i just look like the idiot here.

Ok well someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe it means your car has a 1800 cc ( cubic capacity) motor.

cc
i am guessing that it is a measurement of air?

1800cc's of displacement. In all the cylinders there is 1.8l's of space. Basically the bigger the engine, the more fuel and air you can fit in which equals a bigger boom and more power. There is alot of other physics to it, but that is the jist of it. Some smaller displacement engines make more power then a engine that is bigger, this is where the physics and design come in.
