cross drilled or slotted rotors
 

i have an 2001 330 and i put on cross drilled rotors because the stock ones got warped at about 40000km now the new cross drilled are warped after 5000kms and less then a yr of drinving can anyone recommend good rotors to put on or does anyone else have this problem

i dont drive it that hard and if i do drive hard i dont really brake that hard.. also is there a certain way to break in the new breaks? i heard about that once

when ever you get new rotors you need to heat treat them or they can warp easily. i forget the exact procedure but it consists of not letting the car come to a complete stop and not dragging the brakes and doing it repeatedly. then letting the brakes cool for 15+ minutes.
your brakes were probably warping because; A. you were braking and turning hard or often. or B. you didn't break in your brakes when you first got them.
a good set of pads and solid rotors should do you fine.
remember. your brakes are only as good as your tires.

does anyone know exactly how to work in the rotors? also is it true that brembo is making 330 rotors now thats what they told me at canadian tire?

I would go blank rotors. Or a nice BBK

google how to break-in the rotors.
from what people tell me, it sounds like brembo is the only brake rotor company in the world. so i'd don't think the crappy tire guy is right.

RMP told me that the only crossdrilled rotors available for the 330 are Zimmermans :rolleyes:

well thats what i got on the car now the Zimmermans with the ECB pads from RMP and they are warp already after only 5000kms. brembo didnt make rotors for the 330 they had them for the 325 when i got mine

They should still be under warranty, aren't they? After 5000kms and the rotors warp?? :confused: Talk to Rocco and see what he can do for you.

Brembo makes good quality rotors but they seem to be more prone to warping.

We sell a lot of Zimmerman rotors for the 330 and we've never had any complaint. Zimmerman makes plain or cross-drilled rotors.

For normal street-use, I would stick with plain rotors.

Warping a rotor is not that common. Are you sure your rotors are warped? A lot of different things can cause a pulsating brake pedal and/or a shaky steering wheel.

The most common problem is pad material deposits on the rotor surface. A dented or unbalanced wheel can also give symptoms similar to warped rotors.

Before replacing your rotors once again, make sure that they are warped. *th-up*
