Finally I installed my winter tires and rims.
I'm not used to the look of black rims, what do you guys think?

Simby 08-30-2007 07:25 PM

To be honest, I'm not a fan of black rims on any type of car.

I feel the same way, however these are my winter rims. I just took black paint to them. They used to be gun metal black.

dont think its a bit early for winters?

Sneaky 08-30-2007 11:17 PM

Gunmetal would have looked way better.

They will prolly turn white in the winter with all the salt on the roads

I hate all black rims. You need some contrast between the rims and tires.

At best, you need to paint the rim lip a silver or chrome colour.

i don't mind it but i think it would look really good with a chrome trim....it would go with the trim around your windows

The black rims on winters is fine.

Reminds me of steelies.

dtthiaga 08-31-2007 10:06 AM

That's the point. Why get Aluminum Wheels and paint them black, when a freshly painted Steelies will do. The end result is pretty much the same.

Infact, for the steelies, you can get the chrome rings at CanadianTire, which would make it look better.

You need that contrast between the wheel and tire.

Careful when cornering etc. The heat is a killer for snow tires. I know someone that ran winter tires in the summer, and the tires pretty much rolled underneath him under hard cornering and caused a serious accident.
