Hey guys i found a
2000 328i Sedan with 228km Auto,Premium pkg w/memory,leather seats,ASC/TSC,3 month new Michelin tires,HarmonKardon System, Xenon light Dealer wants $10k What should i look for ? is it worth the coin ? i know the basics check carfax, check for repaint etc... but anything particular i should look for ? any advice and comments appreciated *santa* |
- Have the Car checked out my RPM Motors or Bimmersport before you buy it.
- Offer Less (too high of mileage) - Have the front end checked out on that car (Controls Arms/Ball Joint, Steering Rack) - Have the rear subframe checked out for cracks etc. - Check the Front Hood Lip for rust (on in inside when hood is open) - See if you can find some service history on the car. |
do u really want to purchase a 2000 BMW das got like 228kms?

well an 2000 accord or camry 4cyl, with plain options go for 10k and those last easy 300,000km + , as i've had 3 civics and 2 accords

Dunno, seems like too many klicks for my taste, but if you're on a budget, thats a different story... Why not consider something newer like a civic?

You should look out for rear subframe damage. Go to e46fanatics.com and search. You'll find a lot of info and pics of torn subframe. You should also take a look under the trunk handle, it's prone to rusting. Hope that helps... |
go for an e36 man....its still bmw and personally i think they are as good as an e-46

With this specific car, I would ask the following:
- Receipts of the control arm replacement. It should be the newer updated version. I don't think the original control arms would have lasted this long anyway. They are not that cheap to replace. -You should definitely have the car checked out before buying it. Have it done either at a BMW dealer or at RPM Motors. If the this dealer refuses, walk away. There is no reason that they should refuse if a BMW dealer is doing a 59 or 100 point inspection on the car. When doing the inspection, have the Vanos unit checked properly as well. They tend to go. -As I already mentioned, check the rear subframe as well. That is why it is important to have the car checked out properly. -Some caution. With new tires, it’s hard to determine if the suspension is good. If you end up paying list price, I would insist that they do a 4 wheel alignment from a good shop for the price. Tell them you want the print out after the alignment. Alignment/Camber are not part of the safety. I’m only speaking from experience. :) I had some costly repairs afterwards to fix the problem!!!! - Starting with an offer $8000.00 would be good. I would stop at $9000 or $9100.00. That should leave you enough room for repairs that would come up. If they are selling the car for $10000.00, they probably bought the car for $6000.00-$7000.00 at an auction. :) |
well i went to see the car , seems in good shape besides the front lights are a little fuzzy i guess from hwy driving , interior good shape
i smelt coolant on the right side of the car , guy said its some resovoir/tank how do u test/check the vanos ? car has exactly 229,XXX km he said best he can do is $11k tax in and cert/etested where is bimmersport located ? Wholesale on the car in the black book is $9.5k with this high km what do u guys think $11k tax is good ? |

I think it be hard to buy that car at an dealer auction for $6k-$7k but i could be wrong how many km can a 328i last ? i mean my old 95 winter beater civic had 330km and was still running this is a bmw so i should expect durability and reliability ? |
my beaters got 435XXX kms its a 91 accord and it all depends on how good u take care of the car and plus dont think that the 3.28 ur considering will last that long because u dont know if the previous owner abused the car..and for ur info ppl abuse the cars they lease...
