how can i tell if i have hk speakers?
 

im not sure if i have hk speakers in my facelifted e46 sedan... how can i tell?

there would be a button on the dash in which you could turn on the h/k speakers

Usually the Speakers up front have a HK logo on them as well as the HiFi button near the heated seats!

is the retrofit worth it? what is there to retrofit, just the amp? Is there extra wiring for the amp?

The speakers suck and blew shortly after my new head unit install.

Anyone know what are a good set of speakers which are also a direct fit in terms of size and ohm requirements?

I would go with Eclipes for the quality .. I dont think it would be a direct fit thou.

Nope, but the HK systems used better quality speaker wire.

Thanks for the responces guys. I think i'm going to wait for something to blow before i start fixing it, then probably go aftermarket.

why fix when you can upgrade !!!!

I dunno why everyone says the HK systems suck... i've had mine in the car for a while now and i LOVE it compared to the JUNKY 10 speakers that come on most E36's!
