Pioneer AVH-p6500DVD

neone have any experience with this HU? are they easy to install? can steering controls still work?

kerisabe 08-27-2006 10:30 PM

Seems to be a good headunit, it's pretty old tho. The steering controls will not work unless u get this unit called Pac-swix which will enable u to control aftermarket headunits using your stock steering wheel controls.

+1 for Kerisabe.
Good headunit, simple to install... do it yourself quite easily.

I have one in the Z3, works good, just wish I had a nav hook up to it.

charles_316 08-30-2006 01:53 AM

how do you hook up nav to it?

Shark 08-30-2006 01:59 AM

you need to get the avic-80DVD or the avic-88dvd. But if you dont have the AVH-p6500DVD and you want a nav. I suggest getting a N1, N2 or N3 deck. The only that sucks about the N-units is that you have to always have the nav dvd around if you go out of range of the nav memory. I have the N2 in other car, thats the only thing I hate about it.

wait are avic-80DVD or the avic-88dvd DVDs or units?

with AVH-p6500DVD, can i get nav by putting in a nav DVD or do i have to hook another unit to it and have a nav DVD within that unit?

Shark 08-30-2006 12:09 PM

you need the avic-80DVD or the avic-88dvd to get the nav to work and they are unit, NOT DVD's. The AVH-P6500DVD does not have a nav build into it. Just the N1, N2 and N3 if you are looking for a flip-up screen or the Z1 for a double din deck.
