LS vs. 5 series "my thoughts"
1 Attachment(s)
I am a 23 year old, undernourished, underpayed, white boy from middle america. I grew up across the street from "the projects" and somehow always hoped for better things. At the age of 11 I adopted a cat which i naturally named Bimmer. I am completely infatuated with the cars, and seem to always have been. I have always been at unease for the lack of culture and lack of respect for which, in this great u.s. of a. It shows in the clothes that people wear, the music they listen to and Oh Yes.... the cars they drive. Let me give you some comparison's.
Gucci, Prada, Armani........Abercrombie, American Eagle, etc.. Moby, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Sigur Ros,..... Britney, Backstreet, Creed, Nelly, etc Jags, Mg's, Volvo, Saab, BMW,..........Ford, Chevy, Oldsmobile, etc My favorite comparison is the Lincoln Ls. It is a 5 series rip-off. I mean, if you have enough money to buy a Ls, why not just spend a couple of grand more and get a 5 series. You are forgetting the most important fact:
Since we're both talking V8's here, Lincon LS 0-60 8.8 seconds 1/4 mile 16.6 seconds 540 0-60 5.9 seconds 1/4 mile 14.3 seconds (stats taken from R&T) |
oh yeah
How could i forget that. Thank you gamite.
But..........There is so much more to all of this, aside from performance. You guy's might think i'm a freak, but there is an air about bmw's. And i do not mean the people that drive them. I mean when i see a Bimmer, and before i owned them i just knew it was a "top of the food chain" car. Or mechanically superior. And to have that kind of function with the form (the form being the "look", that unmistakable realization that you were just passed at high speeds by a superior german automobile) is truly a pleasure. In fact it is a code that all of us love and live by. Maybe i take it to far, maybe not. But i think we can all agree that the reason why we drive these machines is because we love them. And wouldn't settle for anything else. .... ok i have said my peace. |
