will my ecu work with this engine?
 

i have a 92 325i non vanos ecu and tranny, and want to swap in a 94 325ic vanos engine. Will I need to buy a new ecu? can i use the 92 325i non vanos ecu? This engine doesnt come with ecu or harness. Is it that hard to reprogram this ecu? is reprogamming even a option or do i have to buy another ecu? any information is welcome and appreciated!

I believe you would need the entire wiring harness and ECU form a vanos motor. I dont think you can just reprogram your ECU to work with the new motor. Im not even sure the two wiring harnesses are the same. I could be wrong about the harnesses, but the ECU for sure would need to be changed.

wiring harness + ecu are both different. neither would be compatible.
