E30 'is' clock light bulb
 

I need the bulb out of the in dash clock, not sure if it matters whether its from the regular clock or from the 'is'/'m'

i had the same problem in my e36, u can buy it off the dealer i paid $ 1.44 for a bulb and very easy to install

Its a little more than that for the E30. Try $85.

I had the same problem a few years back. The stock unit has a small circuit board with a white bulb reflector. You can dissasemble this and solder in a new bulb from either C-Tire or Radio Shack. It takes a little bit of work but $3 is better than $85.

$85!? Is that for the whole unit or just the bulb? On my car it burned out and it was like 80 cents at the dealer to replace.
