new addition to the family (e90)
we just picked it up this afternoon for my sister. alpine white/black 323i with preium package. shes out driving it right now so i cant take any pics right now. its a base bmw but its perfect for her. as soon as i get back from cuba i'm having it tinted 20%, she agrees it will look nicer, and i want to order 8000k hid's and then swap the bulbs from my car (4300k) to hers and take the 8000k...will that work? beats ordering hid's and another set of bulbs for me.
|
Does her car(323i) come with xenons? You can't just take ur bulbs and put it in the 323i unless she already has HIDs. If she has halogens, you need more than just the bulbs.
Im not sure if e90s all came with HIDs, or if it was an option like with e46s. |
yea i know that....i want to put hid's in her car...a complete kit b/c 323 doesnt come with it. but if i order a 8000k kit, and then swap the bulbs b/c i want the 8000k and give her my 4300k stock ones, will that work...get what im saying?

You also need the Ballast + Projectors |
yea i know. i plan on ordering an entire hid kit for her car, similar to this http://www.xenondepot.com/product.php?product_id=26 and then swaping the bulbs from my stock 4300, cause i want 8000...get it now?
|
ohhhh ok.....no it wont work.
It sounded like you were gonna just buy new blubs for yourself (8000k) and give her yours. It wont work bcus those are 9006 bulbs, and your bulbs will be either D2S or D2R bulbs. |
It will not work if u want to take the 8000K bulbs from the HID kit, since the bulbs might be REBASED to accomodate H7 connectors and your stock bulbs wont work with the kit since they haven't been rebased to H7 connectors.

How much did it end up costing after taxes and everything?

Hate to break the news to you but no one has had any luck trying to convert the Halogen lights to HID's in the E90 as you cannot get the casings apart. Your only real choice is to order a BMW set. Most guys are ordering the Euro set as it comes with clear turn signals. Huge cash to do the conversion. Check over on E90post.com and you will see what I mean. Please don't force HID bulbs into your housings. You will blind everyone as there is no cut off built into the relector. Somwhere out there on the net is a great article on HID's and the truth behind all the aftermarket kits. Seems that anything past 6000 doesn't really exist. 8000k bulbs are just 6000k bulbs coated to give the colour range of what an 8000k bulb would look like. The down side is a huge reduction in light output. So much so that a stock halogen has more distance. The colour may look good but for what you are going to invest at least get a performance improvement.

Nice car! I'm ordering an Alpine White 323i as my girlfriend's car for the summer and my car for the winter...
I'm going to special order Xenon from BMW - you have to pay a $400 admin fee plus the cost of the Xenon, but it's worth it... I'm also going to look for the 330 wheels for the summer... |
