Just starting to mod...

hey guys, ive havent done much in terms of upgrading cars. i just got my 1989 325i eurospec and want to start working on it. im thinking of putting a new air intake system on it, and maybe a better exhaust. does anyone have any recommendations for good intake systems, or nice low sounding exhaust?? if i change these components, is there any other systems that i will need to upgrade?? id really appreciate some comments or suggestions as im completely new to this stuff. i'll post some pics as my car evolves. thanks

From what i read and hear the intake system from an e30 is better then just slaping a cone in. It has to be done properly with a heat sheild. If you do a search you should fine some nice pics and info on how to do it properly. As well there is a awhole thread that is about small upgrades at cheap cost in the e30 section. You can't miss it, its a sticky.

for exhaust sound, change the muffler and you got sound.
i got a magnaflow on mine (cat back) and at points it gets kinda loud but it can be quiet depending how i drive it.
intake is a simple cone and heatshield like woofer said. search and you'll find it.
as for other mods, m30 afm and bigger injectors with a A/F tune after that and a markd chip. those are the basics.
and make sure your car is running properly before you actually start modding.

waiting for jordan to post....

Bigger Injectors is a great upgrade, Im not a big proponent of the M30 AFM tho. BTW I have a Brullen, pipping from felxpipe back, Love it to death.

If you really want power, 24V swap is the way to go.

where did you get that eurospec?
bought it from a military? or import?

very good point...change the motor and you are ready to boost the power.

lsd if you don't already have one *th-up*

LSD is a good thing to have. My 4-door came with it stock, suckas.

Also, a smaller diameter steering wheel, short shifter and sport seats are a nice "driving pleasure" upgrade.

n' if your willing to put the money into power, I would say shell out the bit extra it takes, and look at your brakes incase they could use some work. OEM is great for replacement (except maybe a aftermarket pad for less noise/dust) but id definately look into SS Brakelines.

Axxe 12-11-2005 01:54 PM

Rebuilt stock calipers with SS lines, blank rotors and agressive pads is more than enough braking power for a "bolt-on" M20.

Make sure you have 93 octane gas in your area first, jim conforti also makes a very good chip. Either way, a chip is a good investment. And save your money and just put a drop in K&N air filter for now. Cone and heat shield is rather expensive.

The best cat back system for the money
