Very nice car! I'm just a little disappointed in how fast it is 0-60. It should be closer to 4 in my mind. It's only .2 seconds quicker than the last model

Law of diminishing returns, and traction. Getting a RWD car with street tires to get much quicker is very hard.

EMPOWERD 11-16-2004 08:24 AM

yeah, too bad the CLS 55 is faster and magazine's (Auto Motor und Sport) first choice.

True, but the funny thing that they are both quite Ugly? *shiner*

EMPOWERD 11-19-2004 12:24 PM

I agree.. don't like either styling. Maybe it needs getting used to, still love the "current" E55.

ChahalzBMR 11-19-2004 12:32 PM

True. Ugly cars but they got loads of power!

rodo 11-20-2004 08:33 PM

Look at the torque numbers....

If you look carefully, the displacement hasn't changed between the two.

Additionally, traction becomes an issue once you’re below 5 sec. on a rear wheel drive car. Driver skill becomes exponentially more important in extracting good numbers. Like Rodo said above, 4 sec numbers are possible, but only with a highly experienced driver behind the wheel.

To tell ya he truth i dont see how is it possible to hit low 4s with launch control, i mean it always revs up to certain rpms and then i dump the clutch... so it should be pretty much same numbers all the time isnt it? 4.5 to 4.7 as they claim...

Btw as i break in the car i wanna see how it would do against ur z06 beast! On the drag strip too!! *th-up*

you can always use a little brake to help you hold the car a bit and release when the engine is revving at its sweet spot. that should probably knock few tenth off the acceleration time.

i was referring to your comment on M5's launch control.

but that works for all cars in general.
:)

and it's how some magazines get some blazingly fast time. although it wouldn't neccessarily be practical since i doubt anyone with brain bigger than their balls will want to do it on their cars anyway.
