E34 M5 or E39 540i/6
 

Just out of curiosity what is a faster/ better (handling and all around) car? Which would you personally take?

as much as I like 6spd 540's, its still no "M"

My motto has always been:
Always take the prev gen M over the next generation highest "non-M"

eg. E36 M3 over E46 330ci.

So where's ur E28 M5 lol

I donno man, I'd take a 2004 330ci ZHP (//m package) over a E36 M3, even if it was pretty mint. The only way I wouldn't would be if it was supercharged or turbo'd, drop with sum nice 19' BBS rims.


Back on topic.
For stock performance i'd take the M5.
For stock looks i'd take the 540i. I like the styling on the e39s

Think about it this way, however much you spend on that E46, you could have done to the E36 M3, and made it that much cooler. Plus, an E36 M3 is about 20 grand cheaper, and that 20 grand can go directly to mods!


However, when cars get older, maintenance can go up, like in the case of the M5.

I really really wanted to buy a E34 M5, but I got sick of the old interior look and went for something more mordern, it was a hard choice for me

that's true, the E34 interior sucks compared to the E39, damn heated steering wheels might have turn my choice too.

Most E34 M5 are 1991 year . 92-93 very rare . My point is that when e39 came out it was 1997 so we are talking about 6 years difference. I mean if you are picking up 1998 E36 M3 and comepare with 2001 330ci ,thats not so bad becuase only 3 year is the difference. In any case I would still go with 330 because E36 are getting to look dated. No offence but it came out 1991 in Europe.
When it comes to E34 M5 and 540. I would go with 540. 5-6 years difference is just to hard to get over and especialy old E34 Interior . It does not look that bad but front dash is really old. If you are into speed you are looking about 0.5 seconds loss .

ahhah....technically he's exempt since he owns a 535 which isn't the top of the line bimmer @ that time....the 540 was *th-up* *wave*

ahhah...."TECHNICALLY" I'm not exempt since I own a 535 which WAS the top of the line "5 series" at that "TIME" (1992)


540 was introduced in 94. ;) no hard feelings though :)

Two years later in Canada.

Check the price on a 04 330ci and then a E36 M3.

I agree with that but sometimes you just want a newer car with better technology and a warranty.....

E34 M5 hands down.
