What is a plenum chamber ?

I have been told that to find out what my engine is I need to look at the PLENUM CHAMBER on the inlet manifold, what is the PLENUM CHAMBER and where do I find it?

all i know is that the pleneum is the intake manifold itself......
so i guess look around there.

It could also be a M20 B23, or an M20 B27. Not all E30 6 cylinders are M20B25's, just the 325i/325iS's are.

I think it's an M30 but i'm not positive.
