Some goodies for the e30......

1 Attachment(s)
Well since no one wants this e30 of mine, I decided I needed to replace the shocks because they were so worn, it almost felt dangerous driving with so much lean and roll.

Picked up 4 Intrax springs (used 1 month) and two rear Toicko Gas shocks, (need to buy two front now, anybody know where I can get some or will other performance shocks work for the front as well.)

Total price: 300.00$cdn
I am happy, can't wait to install them, lowers the car 2"

Tokico blues? Ouch. Seriously, you'll be lucky if they last 20k. *sad*

The car will look nice with the springs though. *th-up*

good to know, what shocks should I use Jay?
Thanks

Bilstein or Koni if at all possible.

He's got it. Just make sure they are the Bilstein SPORT or Koni SPORT (aka YELLOW). The other damper models will not match with the springs.

Try to find them used. The cheapest I've seen new Bilsteins is $379US.

Jay,

Return those Tokico blue shocks. I blew 2 within 6 months! Go Billstien Sports (I might be selling my rears come spring).

Funniest thing with my car is I only have blistiens upfront. I do not even know whats out back and they have not blown yet.

i've only used tokico blues once- on my current VW- but they've been there with eibach springs for almost 3 years and are still stiff enough to keep that car cornering flat without a front anti-roll bar... and this includes a couple of rally-style 50-60mph excursions on unpaved roads.

not trying to argue with anyone, but the one time i blew $700 on koni adjustables they were soft after a few weeks w/ H&R race springs, and kept going soft again after re-adjusting them.

at half the price and longevity expressed in "years" rather than "months", i'm a tokico fan now...

*shrug* mebbe our bimmers dun like the blues, i dunno, but i'm going with GCs and illuminas when i can afford it- probably gonna run the $300 spax spring/shock setup till then. those supposedly have their reliability issues as well, but i've seen people buy them and keep them... i say you might as well pick up matching blues for the front, they're cheap and you've paid less than the cost of a set of new springs so far...

how about spax nopi has a set for 310 . drops the front 2.5 in and rear 1.5 . for the price i was thinkinf of this setup . are they any good ?

Albertae30 01-17-2004 04:59 AM

has any one ever dealt with nopi cause they don't have a cust care # that works

BMW_M52_M20 01-17-2004 05:31 PM

Alright, looks like it is going to be Bilstein then!

ive bought from nopi before , fuel pump k&N and wires . good price and got through . when you place an order they email you and give you a customer service name and # to call if you have any ? not to much stuff for the e30 but good prices imo for what they have . afm for $103 compared to three hundred every where else . thats why i was looking at spax . the complete set for 310 is not bad but i dont know anything about them anyone has any insite into this setup. are they good or bad ?

Don't make the mistake of comparing the same shock model between cars, it's pointless. There are so many variables to the point of telling you nothing really.

What car did you blow Koni SA's on?! I've heard of them run on the TRACK, on E30 club racers. They lasted season after season.

Soft and low. If that appeals to you then it's all good. It's mostly for looks, I'll tell you that.

I don't need a serious set up, but I think the bilsteins will be a perfect match for the car. I will let you guys know when I install them.
