E36 homemade Intake

I was fliping through a magazine a couple of days ago and saw an intake on a guys 325 that looked fairly simple.....

so at work i got bored and made my own....

first the cone and reducer were yellow but then i decide I didn't like it so i got the red ones...

and WOW..what a difference that thing made....the sound is amazing and i could feel that the engine was more responsive throughout the entire rev range and it pulled harder in the upper RPM's

Ive done it too. Made my own. Probably the best do it yourself mod out there.

But I still kinda want a carbon fiber one

I made my own cold air induction setup today, it works very well, after a nice long city drive I stopped to feel the temp difference and the metal in the induction section was about 10deg cooler than the suspension turret next to it. Now I get that deep roar and my car breathes cold air even in traffic.:)

I sectioned it off with some black plastic and put a hood (bonnet) rubber around the top so it seals when the hood closes.

Trust me, get a heatshield.......I bought one from ECISBMW.com, it was pricey, but a nice OEM look and fit, and it does wonders for keeping the air cold in the intake bay, just amazing!

Gizmo - thats a nice setup there. with the heatshield and all..

I gotta make myself one of those heatshields....looks a little tricky but nothing a few tries won't cure.

MKGINO- yeah...me too...theres nothing like having an authentic Dinan or Carbonio intake....but untill i feel like spending $300 on a CF one this will have to do...lol
