E46 Electrical problem

2000 BMW 323i.

So the other day when i parked my car i notice there was smoke coming from underneath the dashboard. I immediately ran to the trunk and unplugged the battery. the next day i searched for where the smoke could have been coming from and found out that the harness that goes to the light switch was shorting out with a sharp piece of metal behind the dash board causing multiple wires to burn. i cut and stripped the burned wires and solder them back together. i thought this would fix the problem but now multiple lights in the car wont light up when i turn the light switch on, such as:
-Instrument Cluster
-climate control and stereo
-right side low beam
-left side front turn signal
-And right side rear turn signal.
I checked the fuses as well as replacing the light switch but still no luck.
If I can have a little bit of help solving this problem I would highly appreciate it.

Thnx..

Sounds shitty. First thought is if you're sure you soldered them back together properly, but I'm sure you did.

There may be secondary fuses were blown that are not in the fuse box? I'm not sure.

You may have wires damaged in other areas, caused by the initial damage.

Sounds like your LCM was damaged to some degree.

They are cheap and plentiful at Pic N Save junkyard in Hamilton.

If that's not your problem, you can always sell it.

Hook up a OBD2 software and see if you can read the modules. You should find out which module is not on the bus anymore. The LCM, DME and Cluster are all on the same bus and talk to each other. Sounds like LCM and Cluster are damaged or have some wires burned out. Cluster will cost you a lot of money and you will need a specialist to sink it back to LCM and DME. Clusters are one time programmable if I remember correctly. BMW Scanner 1.4 can read all the modules, should tell you which one is not talking right on the bus. Might even point out the errors like bus error on LCM, etc.
