Anyone know the story with this M5 E39

I've watched this guy drop the price 2g in the last couple months. Not sure if it's a good buy. I did call him and he said it was all original but the paint was peeling on the hood. Well BMW never really have a paint peeling issue. He also said it had some lights on the dash as well.

My eyes could be deceiving me but it kinda looks like the paint on the fenders don't match the doors. Could be the cam though.

^plus one.

At least you spoke with the seller. I left VM, kijiji email and a text... nothing but cricket noises....

Did you see the car?

Aftermarket bumper, aftermarket lights, shitty paint job...all indications of front end damage...A clean M5 at that price would have been long gone...*th-up*

Yeah the headlights are hideous!

He said he owned the car for about a year and only put on a couple thousand km. Seems to have gathered a load of issues from what I've heard. No I haven't seen the car, 3hrs for me to drive and I didn't want to waste my time if it was junk. Drove to Niagara Falls long time ago for a 740i sport and it was very far off from being what the seller said. Not to mention they gave me photos of the car from when they bought it :( Don't want to relive that lol.

It's a bottom of the barrel M5.
It's a train wreck.
By the time you fix everything and make it proper, you'd be in the mid teens and could've gotten a clean, unmolested example to begin with.

There's no such thing as a cheap, clean M car.

Sad to see such a car in that shape. 100k car down to 8k :(.

One of my pet peeves is seeing M cars being bought by people who don't give a shit about cars to begin with.

That's the problem when certain niche cars get too cheap to be affordable by the masses. Look what happened to the E46 generation. About 3-4 years ago, a lot of the cars you would see for sale were clean and well taken care of examples. Nowadays, 99% of the listings on Kijiji are cars that are total heaps of junk with more eBay mods than maintenance. It's sad. Oh well, just means the clean ones will continue to command a premium.

I totally agree, some people just don't deserve to have a specialty car... Or just don't deserve a car in general. I honestly don't care if it's a Ford Focus, people really need to learn how to take care of vehicles, it's degrading.

Took my 3 years to get my 540i, it's ridiculous how many different BMWs I looked at and almost all were junk. Then to top it off, even if the car is junk, people still want top dollar and they try to bs the potential buyer.

I'm gonna check it out this week, just out of curiosity. Guy says the camshaft sensor (?) is bad.

Just keep your expectations low. Like, rock bottom.

My expectations are completely non-existent. That way, I'm either proven right or pleasantly surprised. Win/win.

Those pedals are oh so wrong.

Very common, had to replace them on my wife's M5 this past summer. Car ran like complete ass.
