The first official images with the 2014 BMW M3 and M4 have surfaced the web, ahead of an imminent online reveal.

The all-new M3 Sedan comes with a bold new front fascia with black kidney grilles and beefy dual front air intakes along with a redesigned hood featuring a power dome. These official images confirm rumors concerning a carbon fiber roof, while other highlights include twin five-spoke grey alloy wheels, aerodynamic exterior mirrors and gold brake calipers. Moving to the M3's back, there's a new bumper with a redesigned diffuser and a familiar quad exhaust arrangement.

As far as the M4 Coupe is concerned, it closely mirrors the concept shown earlier this year at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. It wears the same gold hue with matching brake calipers and also has a carbon fiber roof. Overall, the coupe seems to be a bit sleeker than its four-door sibling while the interior will be virtually the same on both versions.

The 2014 BMW M3 Sedan and M4 Coupe will feature a 3.0-liter inline-six TwinPower Turbo engine developing around 430 HP (316 kw) and more than 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque. The M3 Sedan is expected to have a curb weight of less than 3,306 lbs (1,500 kg) and will be about 25 percent more economical than its predecessor.

A full reveal is expected very soon.

could be worse.

Ahhhh. . the power to weight ratio looks good in that car.*th-up*

dbworld4k 12-11-2013 01:00 PM

Holy shit. They actually managed to drop some serious weight! This thing will be ridiculous! Can't wait for the comparisons. Hopefully they bring back the tactile feel and sensation of past Ms, and fix what went horribly wrong with the current M5 and M6.

430hp, 369lb-ft, 3300 lbs. Sounds like it should be fun!

Basically imagining my E39 - which is so much fun as it is - now with a bit more HP and a whole lot less weight. That's a fantastic recipe, IMO!

See I was imagining my E46 with 100 more hp and torque, not that it really needs it, but I wants it.

propr'one 12-11-2013 05:55 PM

no no. it needs it. i'm already bored.

T.Dot_E30 12-11-2013 06:07 PM

I guess we all do that. I like all the numbers except for one major element.

The engine 3.0 TT, I know it will be good, the numbers should be great, but my gut just doesn't like it. Maybe I'll feel better when I drive it and know more about how different it is from a N54/5. If it's just a tuned 335 motor I'll feel there is some less special about it.

An M car should have a special motor. All except the NA e36 and 1M did.

Guess I'll have to wait before I know for sure how I feel. Nothing I've read so far would make me give up my s65, maybe that might change if I drive it. But I doubt it, haven't been biten by the boost bug yet.

Axxe 12-11-2013 06:28 PM

^ yeah, it's not a "special" motor, I wonder if it has ITB's? Ivan, stop driving it like you stole it every single day. Then again I'm driving in grandma mode, it's amazing that I still have my license *angel*

Agreed on the lack of a unique/special motor. :(

I hear you. A stock E46 M3 with stock gearing just doesn't do it for me. Get 4.10 gears. Now. It'll make it pretty wild!

propr'one 12-11-2013 07:26 PM

the roadie has 3.73 and, although its noticeably faster than the m3, still meh

tomek, one of these days wifey is going to have enough of my shit and put me out of my misery. might as well have some sideways time before then

Actually ..If you put a 410 gear in a m3 your making it slower.373 like proper guy is ideal. Of course your roadster is faster ..it's lighter than your m3. .were getting there boys slowly but sherly.*th-up*

Blackedout95 12-11-2013 10:02 PM

Like the power/weight numbers for sure. Wonder what they did to beef up the motor over a 335i.

propr'one 12-12-2013 01:51 AM

i have the rfactor file for a e46 m3 somewhere i could check what's faster in terms of ratio. quarter mile i think 4.10 might need the extra shift.
the roadster is definitely slower stock (bmw made sure, they put 3.15 diff with 5 spd) but with the 3.73 its considerably quicker and fun as shit off the line. i still think i prefer my newly purchased e46 m3. it is a lot more on insurance though*thmbsdwn*
