started yesterday, the car is a 2002 325i we are working on putting a m3 rear end in it to get the lsd and the lower gear ratio. So far we have removed the the stock rear subframe, m3 subframe should go in today

checked the drive shaft today to see how much it needs to be lengthened its going to need 5 inches also anyone needing parts from the stock rear subframe we are parting it message for details

found out the hard way that the m3 drive shaft front flange is bigger than the 325 flange so the modified drive shaft didnt work the drive shaft is now getting the 325 front flange put on

Finally got everything put back together today. Drive shaft finally finished. The length it needs to be lengthened is 5 inches if you aren't using the 6 speed tranny. Everything works great just need to get an alignment tomorrow. Just that my cluster is a Christmas light lol the traction control is always off the abs light is on the hand brake light is always on. Any one know why or how this could be fixed ? Would it be because the m3 and the 325 wiring is different ? But here are some pictures of the finished project

Had to reverse mount the bolts on the flange that connects te drive shaft to the guibo because the new drive shaft was to thick and the bolts wouldn't fit through the right side. No problems drive shaft is still balanced

Props for DIY! Did you get the lights figured out? Where did you source the new driveshaft.

DET1990 07-14-2013 08:24 AM

The drive shaft is from pats driveline in mississauga

ZooKeeper 07-14-2013 11:21 AM

The drive shaft was lengthened at drive products but the proper flange was put on at pats drive line since drive products wouldn't do it. And no haven't figured out the lights yet , car drives fine with them on will look into it soon though
