Looks good, i've been wanting to do the same and clean up a lot of the vacuume hose mess. Less the ITB's unfortunately :)

Did you buy the cop kit online or piece it together yourself?
Clutch fan delete in the future?

BMe30 06-16-2013 04:53 PM

I got the plate from a fellow member. Got the coils from an old max sponsor. Its not secured just a snug fit. Believe it or not i plan on going back to wires.

I may to the fan delete in the next year or 2.

Any reason you didn't like the COP?

Wondering the same thing.

Well if you do want to switch back? I have a 4 pack that's in great shape, BavAuto plug wires along with a new heat shield and BMW cover plate.

Nothing really... will need to go with wires when i go full standalone. Also going to custom length the wires so they pretty much just arc over from the fender wall into the plugs.

Is the Moroso really worth the money or is it possible to use a clear plastic inline fuel filter or princess auto compressed air cleaner?

Why do you say this?

Looking at the build quality of the moroso pretty much yes imo. It is possible to use what your thinking of. But i would worry about the paper/cloth clogging with the oil and not venting properly. Inside the moroso there is a corse steel wool like material to separate the air oil. I think most of them are like that. There is a lot of DIY for these.. Even using a coke can lol.

Some of the standalone units i looked at i would have to. If i go aem dont have to. SDS dont have to either.

I don't see the difference between going from COP back to the stock set-up. It's still 4 individual coils, just that they are remote. Unless the units you are looking at only have 2 ignition outputs forcing you to run wasted spark?

I believe the aem and the sds will suport my cop kit. Honestly it was more for looks lol having the wires arcing from the fender wall to the plugs.

I was thinking a Sapporo can with some steel wool inside and garden hose fittings. LOL

Well I did find this, it might help catch some of the oil vapours? http://www.aemelectronics.com/water-...on-filter-1161

Also found something similar, a steel mesh water filter at Princess Auto in the farm section, only $10. Something like this http://www.irrigationdirect.com/y-fi...mesh-ss-filter

I don't know... I might not even run a filter. I'm still trying to sort out what hoses I need to delete the U pipe under the TB. Looks like 5/8" heater hose could work for the valve cover and ICV system, and 1/2" for the brake booster.

If i were to pick from those 2 id go with the second one. It at least has more volume to store the oil and a drain.

Hope it works out for you

Thanks, it's cheaper too (I have no money left from all the parts i've ordered lately). I'm just worried about the plastic melting, but if I mount it away from the engine like you have, it should be fine.

Curious which Moroso separator you got I did'nt see one specifically for an e30 listed on their site.
You've had it in for about 4 mos. now do you notice any difference in performance? how is you baseline testing coming? how often are you draining it?
