interior inquiry
proud new owner of a 92 318i convertible. now i have allot of work ahead of me, one of the first things i am working on is the interior. Im just curious what others have done with the rear seats as replacement, can i "lightly" mod a 318 coupe seat or e36 rear seat to fit? last time i had an e30 (about 9 -10 years ago) i threw e36 front seats in it and had the rear recovered, any way around this?interested in what others have had success with, thanks.

the only rear seats that are interchangable within the e30 vert, are...e30 vert rear seats.

e30 coupe, sedan e36, you name it no go.

scoure you pull it yards, ebay, online BMW forums for them...they're out there, and they're costly when you find one in good shape.

ask me how I know:-P

I had my front and rear seats completely recovered to oem speck. the kit cost me 1500.00 then my labor to install them. Question is, how handy and how much time do you have on your hands.

like mentioned, no other model bmw seat will be correct fit. You can retro fit the e36 fronts as I have seen this but honestly....? they don't look that great and not nearly the same support given.

do it right...don't ghetto the car...too many butchered cars out there as it is....yaknow..."seemed like a good idea at the time" crap..LOL

honeslty i always loved the e36 seats in the front, was considering just installing e36 fronts and recovering rear to match. is there a certain model (e.g.mtech) that has a nicer stock leather interior?

unless you find a mtech very, oftentime the front seats have mtech badges/stitching.

and you will be extremely hardpressed to a) find them b) justify the insurmountable amount of cash on just seats for a label/style.

stick with the KISS rule, and simply enjoy your e30 vert on days like today for the summer!

now you must explain the "KISS" rule

If you're really into getting something massive makes adapters to make recaros fit (most commonly e21)
