machine shop

I am looking for a reputable machine shop that is familiar with BMW's. I am looking to get my head resurfaced and have the valve guides and seals replaced, and possibly a 5 angle valve job and a port and polish. Anybody have any referrals?

Astro Automotive Machine refinished and straightened my M52 cyl head and did an amazing job. Of course they have a great reputation as well which is why they're building my bottom end. But they do need their time unfortunately, it's a busy shop.

+++1 for Bill @Motex.. i've been using him since 1996. He really knows his stuff and prices everything very reasonably. Excellent workmanship and knowledge of European heads.

+1 for Astro...those guys take care of you. They take their time which may seem annoying but in the end you ARE getting top quality work.

ymmv?
they have turned out plenty of good work over the yrs.
I guess it depends on what you want to do and how you feel about the place.

I was just tossing out another option. We all seem to agree astro is good(though Ive also heard of the odd bad experience. It can happen anywhere)

Not really... for the uninformed there are enough threads that pop up about the incompetence of Mississauga Engines alone to avoid them completely. I've seen first hand of engines machines/assembled by them that are just plain horrible and have broken as a result of their work.

It's a wonder they're still in business really.

I've also heard very positive experiences from Motex.

Yup, when I dropped off/picked up parts we would end up chatting for about an hour every time lol.

davericher20 05-07-2013 05:25 PM
