Signed. Lets hope the government listens for once.

Everyone should take action and complain/write to their MPs
I did, instead of just compaining among ouselves

The more people write to their MPs, something might get done;
also Tim Hudak stated that he will abolish the emission test if he wins the next election..
something to think about.....

Andrea Howarth is calling for a 15% reduction in insurance premium, so a spring election might be in the card, if Kathleen Wynne refuse her request.

Signed the petition

I hope you are advocating to scrap only the new OBD regime and not the Drive Clean program all together. I remember all of the smoke throwing shitboxes that used to be on the road, and how quickly they disappeared when Drive Clean was introduced.

If your car wont pass etest because of its actual emissions, I'd sign a petition to scrap your car.

No.
We want to scrap it all, just like B.C. recently did away with aircare.

So you can pollute freely? Without DC there are a ton of people who would drive without cats, etc.

I'm not innocent - I drive a V10 M5. But I'd like my grandchildren to be able to breath.

I don't mind the tail pipe test to make sure your car isn't running like a coal fired train. It's just this new stuff that's ridiculous. Even then, if drive clean were to be gone, it doesn't mean you can legally drive your car without a cat, yes more people might get away with it, but it's still against the law. Cops would probably become more stringent in pulling over and inspecting cars that have a strong exhaust smell if drive clean was gone.

At least the BC Energy Minister is using statistic to scrap the Aircare:
started in 1992 and they achieved what it intended to do and scraping in 2014, where else Ontario is implementing a badly thoughtout ODB emission test that most failed and costing driver more money and wasted time.

"Environment Minister Terry Lake said Thursday that newer cars run much cleaner now than the vehicles being made when AirCare started in 1992.

AirCare statistics show that when the program began in 1992, just 69.5 per cent of vehicles met the emission standards and passed the test.

That increased to nearly 82 per cent by 2001 and by 2011, nearly 88 per cent passed. "

I prefer to show my disdain for the program by burning their probe with an intense 3-foot flame.

The problem with that logic is that it doesn't take into account how much the program had to do with the increase in pass rate.

Also, those statistics show that in 2011, 1.2/10 cars still failed. Without the program in place, there will be no enforcement of these cars.

Enforcement in what sense? The program is such that if your car fails you can still drive it, you just have to get a conditional pass, so there's always going to be "failing" cars on the road.

If you really want clean air in the world, then every country has to do its share to reduce emission, I dont see China and India doing that and they are the fastest growing economy with alot of manufacturing industries that are polluting the air, USA is no better and can Ontario "contain" the better air that this emission test is doing? Are we really breathing better air here than in Vancouver?

Dont get me wrong, the initial reason to implement emission test is good and I dont mind the tail pipe test but this ODB testing is causing more headaches and money and i know alot of people even used car dealers are complaining... and it has to go...
