Any 335d owners out there?

Hey all

I'm currently looking to trade my 2003 540i for a 335d as my wife has no interest in learning to drive stick (and the e39s aren't the easiest manuals to begin with anyhow.) Getting to the point - are there any 335d owners out there who could impart any tips / tricks / warnings about what I might expect from owning a diesel? I know about the urea exhaust fluid refills every oil change - I've just not heard about if regular maintenance is more expensive, or if having a mechanic who specializes in diesel engines is needed.

Thanks for any wisdom you can provide!

i dont think there are too many people here with this car.

You should check out e90post.

Thanks - that's a good idea... as I don't need any Canadian specific info, it makes sense to look at a larger (more specific) community.

Call the dealer and ask what the price is for general maintenance like , oil change, brakes, etc. It will give you an idea.

my father in law has a 2010 335d, he has had no problems with it and gets about 1500km on a full tank. only regret he has is there is no manual tranny for it.

I'm currently leasing a 2011 335d. I'm also considering getting rid of said lease in the March-May time frame (as temps get warmer and I'm able to drive the e30).

0 issues other than having to top off the coolant and oil once and the usual e90 rattles. ~18k on the odo.

Thanks for the input guys - I've put a deposit in on an '09 335d... looking forward to not having to buy premium gas for the 540i any more.

Shame. You should've taken over my lease ;)

Seriously, though, you'll love the car. I get a solid 500km a tank from my rush hour commute (Lawrence west and Allen to Richmond Hill) and when I take her on the highway the trip computer shows 1000+ km. Not too shabby for a 2 tonne, 3.0L twin turbo.
