Hi everyone !

I just sold my 98 318 and now i am looki for a E39 540

I want to know what to inspect, what are they problems ... !

If "winter car" meams that the E39 will sit around between winters then IMO thats not a good idea as these cars work best if you drive them all the time... .

i think he means that the car will not be stored for winter and it will be used year round

No, the car will be drive 4 seasons, full time in winter .. 2-3 times weeks in summer !

Thrust arms on the front are common "consumables". Get Lemforders, don't buy the no name stuff. You can replace the bushing on it's own, but I suggest doing the whole arm since it's not much more (part cost and labor).

Alternators on 540's are expensive as well, and don't last forever (they're water cooled).

and more of a cosmetic thing, the pixels tend to go in the cluster on the info display.

Oh, and cup holders break often fcplm don't use them.
