OBD Code Readers for E46
 

I would just like read some codes and settings, and since i already have a laptop thought i would just go for one of those OBD usb readers. Not sure which one to get, also would I have to purchase software for it? Im running Windows 7 on the laplop.

I have one of these stubby modules, which fits nicely in our cars without interfering. I just leave it in all of the time, and have it tied into my smartphone. You can read and reset ODBII codes, but also log lots of other info like coolant temp, rpm, etc.

I also bought a modified diagnostic cable to use INPA software with. I got it from gleech http://www.maxbimmer.com/forums/show....php?p=1539712

INPA is very powerful. You can program modules, reset adaptations, see BMW specific codes, etc.

Thanks, what smartphone do you have, I have a BB - and from owning it for a while i know that all BB apps are pretty bad, but i like the idea of leaving it in all the time: you dont need to worry about the cable or even bring the laptop to your car.

As for INPA is it available for download somewhere or do you need to purchase it? Just out of curiosity what kind of changes/settings have you programmed - so far?

Does the Bluetooth OBD with Torque have full functionality?

Namely: voltage, coolant, speedometer inputs. How accurate is the 0-60, 1.4 mile, etc. on it?

I haven't tried the 0-60, quarter mile, etc. I do have voltage, coolant, speed, etc.

Sounds awesome for the price. Ordered one yesterday.

If its good enough, I'll consider getting a dedicated tablet for the car.

Good thing about this is you can use it with your phone and also with your laptop.

That one is huge if you plan on leaving it in there.
