WHat's the best code reader
I owned my 328is for 10 years now and I'm tired of "guessing" everything.
So, I want the best tool to read the basic fault codes. I know I'll need the 20pin adapter for sure but is there consensus on what is the tested and true reader that most ppl use? Thanks |
I was thinking of getting the smart phone wifi obd2 reader . Connects wirelessly to any smartphone and runs on a app that reads codes , re sets them and a bunch of other options its actually very neat, you can find them online from 40-80$ just gona research it a bit before I buy

I have the Peake scanner, its simple and works great.

The base OBD2 readers only read the common codes. Many can't read the full BMW codes. If you can afford to spend the time to learn how to setup and use it, the BMW GT1 software for a PC is best (or the newer variants). Get the cable and 20pin adapter online for like $40, and "find" the software elsewhere.
If you just want to scan and reset basic codes, the Peake reader is really the way to go. |
Thanks Arek I like to tinker so I'll give a try to that GT1 software.

Great! Thanks. It's funny, it easier to reach you through Maxbimmer than
through 8 Legs... |
