BMW FWD Garbage!
Looks like BMWs will be the new Honda Civic in the next couple of years. New BMWs are nasty looking monsters and I will not buy another beammer again!

The brand itself maybe will be diluted, but they still will be manufacturing a good 3, 5 and 7 ser. vehicles. The company just doing that in order to survive, and remain comparative.

I thought the mini cooper was BMW's FWD model (red headed step child they inherited)

fwd can be pretty darn capable...itll be intresting to see if they attempt to make something half decent and where it will sit with other capable fwd'rs.
|
I don't see what the issue here is at all... the article states that the FWD cars will likely be separately branded and not likely under the BMW number except for the expectation of the X1 (possibly but not confirmed). The i3 will for sure be fwd if it doesn't come with a 4wd variant. Making the 1 series hatch if it ever makes it to our shores FWD is a good idea as well.

Seems fine to me too...the company has to stay competitive and follow trends...which we all know is small, fuel efficient cars....but if that allows them to stay in business and keep building M cars and rear wheel drive 3, 5, 6 and 7 series...so be it...

All BMW performance oriented history will soon be down the drain after the type of junk that will be on the road very soon. They will just be cheap economical cars from getting point A-B! I am already considering a W204 as my next car!

I dont see the issue? All this is "rumors" and not fact. I mean Lamborgini i releasing a "cheap" version of their car... Honda/Acura/Infiniti... Toyota/Lexus... I see BMW doing it to make money in tough times... They lost the #1 spot to Mercedes... Who the hell can afford it in the US or Europe? From a profit stand point makes sense... I doubt they would kill their core products.
