DRL Module Durability
Has anyone had their DRL (Daytime Running Lights) Module Fail? I was thinking of buying a used one to put on my US E36 M3. The new ones are special order and I would have to wait awhile.

Never heard of one failing.

Never heard of an OE one failing but my aftermarket one made by Hamsar(?) failed. And to make it worse, when it failed it turned the lights ON and drained my battery!

I have one that I removed and replaced with the US module. It looks better with the angel eyes as the DRL's.
You can have it, but you're in PA...

I've got one lying around somewhere too. But like Dinanstu, I'm in the Toronto area. lol

I've never heard of one failing before either. Could it be a fuse of some sort or maybe one of the connections? I'm sure you checked already, but just in case. See if you can find another e36 around and switch them real quick to make sure its the DRL module before ordering another. It would suck to order a new one and replace the old one to find out its not the module that was the problem.

If you have a US spec late model e36 buy the canadian spec DRL module not the hamstar garbage.

I got a real BMW module from a used parts place in Canada and put it in using these instructions:

Works well, I also put in a switch in to kill the DRL if I want. I called up my car insurance company and they even gave me a discount.
