FS: 1985 535i e28
This amazing E28 is almost fully restored. It runs perfectly and has been used daily since December 2011. I've spent over $3000 on this vehicle (getting the initial safety was costly due to suspension and brake work, but it's good now) and spending more on the interior.
This used to be a 528e, but the previous engine blew and it was replaced with 3.4L engine from a 1986 635i (about 290K on the new engine). It's a loud car, but I've added a muffler and exhaust tips to reduce the noise and droning.
This car will come with the old rear seats (blue cloth), front driver seat switch (currently using normal switches, but this will work much better), a full spare, extra 535i instrument panel and any other small parts I can find.
What I've done since buying this car:
-Safetied in December 2011 with suspension and brake work
-Added Bosch O2 sensor
-Replaced coolant temperature sensor
-Replaced most of the hoses and fixed any vacuum leaks
-Added a new muffler
-Added exhaust tips to reduce exhaust drone
-wired up the front passenger seat
-Replaced rear seats with matching black leather seats
-Repainted car white
-Fixed instrument cluster panel
No emission test required.
Reason for selling: I have a 528e E28 in need of attention and I don't have time to work on this car anymore.
Will also include lots of textured vinyl for the door panels if I get close to the asking price.
Price: $2500 OBO
Any rust issues? Paint looks nice! It was white before too?
There is some rust in the trunk that I didn't get to. The trunk is also not painted. There used to be rust at the bottom of the door panels, but I sanded it away, used some rust reformer and patched it up.
The original colour was cosmosblau, but it was really badly faded and the clearcoat was almost gone, so I painted it the colour that I always wanted :)
Under the car, it should be okay. I've had it on jacks a few times and haven't noticed any rust issues there.
really sexy car! love it!
I want it
Ya me too, If I had room for it I would jump
