Emissions test done and....

Just passed :)

Not bad for a 21 year old car... Now i just have to put my mods back on...

Bullet Ride 07-30-2012 03:04 PM

Unfortunately for me it's much too difficult to remove my mods for testing lol.
I'll just have to make a special tune for e-test.

El Gato Liso 07-30-2012 03:30 PM

my blown m50 passed emissions legit. i was dumbfounded...

DIRT_Racer 07-30-2012 05:16 PM

thought emmissions was only to 20 yrs old.

You thought wrong, anything after 1987 will always need an e-test. No more 20 year rule.

When my build is done ill do the same. Im pretty sure at that level it shouldnt be that hard to have an emissions tune.

Its 88 and newer to be tested.. No matter how old the car is. I asked the guy at the shop and he confirmed that. Kinda sucks really...

Bullet Ride 07-30-2012 07:51 PM

Yeah and apparently there's going to be cameras now that take a picture of the car and plates, so no more fake testing either.

Congrats on the pass! Just wondering if they put your car on the dyno or just did an idle test? Supposedly they are in the process of phasing in a new test whereby newer cars (OBD2 and up I think) get tested via the diagnostic port and older cars without that capability just get idle tested. No more dyno. When I tested my E30 last fall they didn't put it on the dyno, and when I looked at the sheet, it said "n/a" in all the fields for NOx. If this is gonna be the new norm it actually spells good news for guys with iffy older cars because now you can just dump a bunch of methyl hydrate in the tank before going in a not have to worry about NOx levels skyrocketing.

my e36 just got done(obd2) and it was obd port scan only .

BMe30 07-30-2012 10:12 PM

Yup it was a dyno test. I heard the same thing about the obd2 plugin test and the obd1 idle tests. Not sure when that will come into play.

Ill post my results in the morning... You can see how close it really was.

I just got mine done last week too and it passed with flying colours.....after installing a new CAT . Seems the PO decided to gut the old one and not tell me when he sold me the car.

Here is the test results... The HC was pretty close!

Does anyone know what the maximum rpm is for the curb idle test for the 325?
