Trade audi S4 for an E39 M5
 

Hi,

I never drove an BMW M5 E39, but was always interested into buying one.

I currently own an 04 Audi S4 B6 (V8 engine) and like the car, but maybe looking to trade it for the M5.

The M5 would obviously be a little older and with a little more mileage.
The S4 has quattro, but since I won't drive both car in the winter, this is not a major plus for me.

What do you think about this? Would you do the trade?

I have never drove an s4, but i can tell you if you drive a e39 m5 you will trade up. Yeah I said trade up.

The e39 m5 was and is a benchmark in four door sports sedans.

What about trouble with engine overheating and blowing up? Don't know anything about this, just read it over some car forums.

The M5;s are pretty bullet proof. If u had a 06 S4, it would be a done deal between you and I.

B7 and B6 are very similar. They have some minor differences but really it is the same car.

I know there are issues with vanos and rear subframe on M3. Anything on an M5 that a buyer should look at?

History is key and routine maintenance. I'm new to the M5 but not BMW. Talk to the right ppl and research out each car.

Us the M5 is a trade up from the volkswag...opps I mean Audi

I am not a VAG guy, but my wife LOVES the newer style Audi's (especially the b8? with the LED's).

If it was a white, B7, manual, you pretty much had a trade.

What's the info on the car? I have an M5 I am selling, but mileage on yours? Do you have the stock rims?

V8 4.2, quattro, manual 6 speed
Black recaro interior, brushed aluminium trim.
Only mod is the exhaust. The sound is awesome!

Wheels/Tires on pic are almost new 19's, original 18's with winter and another set of 4 seasons included (pirellis for both sets i believe)

Pro's : Great condition, drives like a new, nothing needs to be done on the car, No timing chain noise (common problem).
con's: Like most VAG 4.2, it takes a little oil.

As tempting as it is, I'd have to pass. Would look great in my garage next the the wives 05 1.8T Quattro. Good luck though.

i doubt anyone will straight trade an E39 M5 for a B6 S4, two different cars

They are two high end sport sedans... Different in the some of the details but overall I think they are appealing to the same crowd.

If I wanted to trade a Civic or sentra I would agree, but this not the case.
BTW I realize I might need to throw in some money...

Just sell your car,but sell me the oem S4 rims so I can throw them on the wife's A4 and when you have $$$ in hand buy my M5
