All in all "Bad taste" is Rice. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Remember people with GOBS of money still rice their cars out.
It could also be considered a type of attitude.

List what YOU think is Rice. There are no wrong answers.

-M emblems on a non-M car (this one is loaded)
-Wing on your car when you don't go to the track
-Massively oversized bodykit with stock wheels
-Burning oil
-fart can

I am not responsible for hurt feelings stemmed from mods done to your car ending up in this list.

- Tow hooks in the front/rear for looks (god help you if you rear end me)
- 3M Carbon wrap everywhere
- Majority of vinyl'd cars in flamboyant colours
- Altezza/Euro style chrome/red lights
- LED Anything that is NOT supposed to light up (washer nozzles, valve stem caps, etc)
- PAINTED BRAKE DRUMS, rotor hats (black, silver is good though)
- Caliper covers
- Bumper stickers
- I'm probably going to be flamed by some people for this....but extreme stretch and poke - definitely not my thing. It's like oversized booty, some people love it some people hate it. On top of that, serious negative camber...for example:

- Euro fogs for street use here (sorry Terry, and I don't know if you drive with them on...but one day it can seriously cause a huge problem for those not watching the 3rd brake light)
- Windshield banner with the name of your car on it (well..no really it's a civic?)

Any kind of decal really... If its not on the race track why are they even there, sure you have tein suspension, but was it free? Did you get a discount? No? Then why promote em for free? Because racecar?

Further to this^^, licence plate frames that re-state the manufacturer of your car, or made to look like barbed wire, chain..... really, any licence plate frame aside from those supporting your independent mechanics shop (or your own business).

I completely agree with this(especially the attitude part). One thing to note is that RICE at one point of time may have referred to jap bikes only and then jap cars only but that ship sailed along time ago and is a term applied to any car with said mods listed in this thread.
that means german, italian, american etc. it doesnt matter.

Seems some people still try to hold to an old definition to try and defend their choice of mods on their bmw...but in reality they are rice mods. If you are happy with it, thats fine but a spade is a spade ;)

That shit drives me nuts with VAG guys, I can't tell if they are braking or not or simply have one taillights broken, running rear fogs when there's no fog is huge fine in western europe. That and driving with front fogs on gets to me, but so many people do it now that I start to ignore it.

^ Same. I hate un-necessary foglights. I ran front fogs for a couple weeks because my switch got jammed in "on" on the black e30, but I hated having them on. Provide no useful light (over HID's in low), and the rear is a serious safety hazard, looks like you're braking but the rest of your lights are out.

it drives me nuts seeing mufflers big enough to house small rodents, cats or even small dogs, it boggles my mind how someone pulls the trigger on such a purchase. I understand to each is own but damn!
