Force Feeding Black Power!!

Hey friends! got my self a 90' 520i at the beginning of this winter for $800! it has a very unique m50"B20".... yes a 2.0L.... in a 3500 lbs car lol... with 150hp u bet its 2.sloooowwww.... I've decieded to give this e34 some force feeding by adding a turbo! the plan is to lower the compression by swaping out the pistons wit some forged low comp ones. ill have to get them custom as it will be hard to find some 80mm/bore forged pistons :( but ill talk more about that later.... this is what my baby looked like when i bought it!!

Congrats!

When you're ready for pistons, talk to Arek (ScotcH) - he can source you some custom pistons from a few different places.

You don't need pistons for that motor on low boost. I ran 12psi on standard 10:1compression pistons all day long and I ran my car hard everyday

+1 unless you're going to run 30lbs of boost you don't need that stuff. changing your factory HG & putting good after market head studs is a good idea
or you can just do like i did back in the day slap it on & see how long the head gasket lasts :D

captain E34 06-27-2012 07:43 PM

really? should i just invest in a good turbo setup wit around 8-12 psi and start from there? im guessing the HG will go before a piston if need be?

I have a TD manifold port matched to the m20 head with a wastegate, compressor and garret Turbo for $600.

i was going to put it on my 325is 1987 but have no time

bmdoubleya 06-28-2012 12:48 PM

Oh ya and and intercooler for $75 extra

captain E34 06-28-2012 06:30 PM

Will it work on an m50 head?

nice - you score those locally or ebay? were there more?
I need larger injectors, but never looked hardcore or got serious..

again though you don't totally need those my 318 was ok with factory injectors up to 12lbs but any higher you go lean & need larger injectors

sb_600 07-03-2012 03:23 PM

I think Metric Blues are an alternative head stud... no first hand experience though so don't take my word on it.

captain E34 07-03-2012 07:08 PM

I grabbed them off ebay, 250$ couldnt do much better at the time any other ones were 300 ish!! And for the head studs im still doooin research!!
