Anyone know who can do 40-45% tint???

I had mine done by Richmond hill tint and they did a great job but I'm not too happy with 35%.

I have an appointment on Saturday with a shop which indicated they have "70% 60%50%40%30%20%10%5%" available. I am only looking to get 70% myself, and can't say how the quality is yet.

The place is in woodbridge called Suncool, you can find them on the web.

70%? That is barely even noticeable. Would that even offer much in terms of UV protection and temperature reduction? :S

My M5 has 70% (or there abouts) and I personally like it. Provides a touch of protection(visual) and makes the black car look great with my sunshades. Not a huge fan of really dark tint.

Im gonna tint the Z, its gonna look retarded.

Like bmwm5lover I too like the subtlety of a mild tint, and having the same tint on both fron and rear windows. Antoher concern is when driving to other provinces it would be nice to not draw attention and avoid a ticket.

I've got 35% all around on the E90 and think it's too light...:S

30% on the TL which is black on black and it looks superb. I won't even be able to notice anything that's 50% or above let alone 70

Lol. You're not going to "draw attention" with just your window tint. I've had 35% and 20% on my cars and not once have I even been asked about it during stops.

Agreed. 35% on a black interior car looks perfect.
50% doesn't even look like it's there.
70% would be a complete waste IMO. OP, you do know that the higher the %, the less dark it is? Just making sure as it's a very common misconception.

Terry, you definitely have 35 or MAYBE 50%. There is no way that your windows are anything lighter than that.

Well I would recommend against a company named Suncool. Showed up for my appointment, and the guy never bothered to show up to open his shop. Waited for over 45 minutes, he didn't even have the decency to call to advise he wouldn't be available.

The-Traveler 06-19-2012 03:37 PM

Dbworld4k, can you recommend a good tint shop?

Thornhill Tint!

5ABIVT 06-22-2012 09:45 AM

I will talk to thornhill again.

I actually bought my car with 50% tint and DIDNT EVEN KNOW for 4 months that one window had no tint on it until I went to check specifically for it a week before tinting. I then realized the passenger window had no tint and the rest of the car did which was why in some pics it looked clear and others like it had a tint. I think 50% would be excellent again but I want just a touch darker, which is why Im looking for 45.

I disagree with you about 35. Fact is from many angles it is totally blacked out. Like totally. From those angles there is NO difference between having black bristol board glued to the windows and having 35% and THAT is what I hate. I like to be able to see through all the time no matter the angle. if its lighter in bright daylight so be it.

I think tint shoppes have it all wrong really. the options out there suck. Almost no tint shoppe carries a 'factory' like tint that is decent quality. AFter tinting my vette every brand and color tint master had (like 10 years ago) I ended up peeling and retinting 4x in one week. I settled on a really really cheap brand that had 42%. I tried all the expensive tints but they had stupid shades of brown , silver or charcoal or other garbage. Sad fact was the only 'blackish' tint they carried was the cheapest dyed brand. It looked the best so I went with it.

i have loads of pics ill post a few...

here is 35% vs 50 on my car
http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/...d/cf1ace54.jpg
50% side This pic does look overexposed you can tell by the brightness of the pavement so the tint looks lighter than it would to the eye in this angle.

same 50% back angle same time of day
http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/...d/b7256078.jpg

I can understand if youre as black as Wesley Snipes you can roll with the windows halfway down with 35% and you may look lighter if thats the desired effect. Im after a clean oem look with all my cars I let the stance and wheels do the talking.
Or if you're this guy 35% is for you.

Diego Borghese
416.917.1582

Highly recommended. He works for himself and tints out of a few dealerships in Woodbridge. He does tint work for most of the dealerships. Great service and he'll tint any % you want.

Uses SunTek Carbon tint. ~$300 for e90.
