Looking to buy, BMW 328i-xi vs 330i-xi

Hey guys, Im quite new to this forum and Im in the market for a E90.
Considering I cant really afford more than 17-18k, I think my only option is a 2006 car.

I was wondering, is there really a difference in terms of performance and reliability between a 328 and a 330?
Is it worth paying for the xi or i is fine?

Thanks for the advices and congrats for the forum, theres loads of stuff to learn from in here!

oh and might be considering a 325 also but I think power seems to be an issue compared to a 330..!

My GFs dad has a 2006 323i and the camshaft just went in it and it is costing him 8k to have it replaced. And he babies the car and only highway KMs but I don't know how reliable the 328 and 330s are. And if you want all wheel drive and you feel it is a must then go for the Xi. IMO all wheel drive isnt as much "fun" and would never want it but if that's what your into to for it. But yea do a lot of research on the engine of those cars before you buy because they can be pricey

Yeah I will definitely take some time to do some research! thanks

if your looking for power get the 330. all of this engine are similar and have the same problems. for one the sludge build up inside the engine because of the oil change interval;25000 km oil change is to excessive. if your buying a used one make sure you bring it to a specialist.

I actually found one pretty decent here in quebec with a great price, but it has 149 000km on it and it kinda scares me.. should I be scared or?

149k seems pretty high, you might be looking at a couple of high ticket maintenance expenses in the near future, regardless if the vehicle was 'highway' driven to justify the high km.

Dude... take your time and do your research like the other guy said. The longer you wait, the lower the price will be, 2006s to 2008s are dropping and the facelift cars are creeping to under $20k. Unless you want a 335i coupe or M3, the numbers are in your favor.

If you don't care about gas mileage, go for the 330xi.

Have a type 2 inspection performed at BMW dealership for 200-300.
