upper strut mounts
hey guys does anyone know if after market strut mount/camber kits will lower the car front of the car if installed? thanks
|
Some camber plates do depending on dimension, should be in the description

e90 top hats lower the car by about 10mm. I have it on my e30.
Direct swap with e30, about $50 from BMW dealer. |
The Ground control plates are slightly lower than the stock strut mounts, about 1/2" I believe. Most other adjustables are larger.
Check out the member "NoSco" (or something like that) on e30tech.. He has some wicked adjustables that lower the car IIRC. |

i did some digging and found ground control has some that lower it 17mm but they are like 300$

You don't want to lower it too much without increasing the spring rate anyways. You're going to have the same wheel travel and less space for the wheel to travel in... :)

yes i am aware of this, i guess i should tell you what i have. i lowered my e30 318i with the H&R sport cup kit ( the one for the 325e/i ) and on the specs it says 2.1" front 1.7" rear but I'm thinking that since mine is the 318i the front isn't as low because i don't have the weight of the 2 extra cylinders to weigh it down the 2.1". so after about a year the springs have settled and the car is level so at least the back isn't lower than the front but i want it a little lower in the front and strut mounts was my option any other ideas would be great.

Does the cup kit use the factory spring perch?

ya it does and i just reused the stock strut mounts too.

Sounds like ur in business! I'd recommend going with the perches first for three reasons:
1. it might be enough low 2. they're cheap 3. camber plates have spherical bearings that have a short life and get really noisy. ask me how I know. |
good call i may go that way with it $50 for 10mm isn't bad but is it any e90?... what would i ask for at the dealer?
And how do you know haha |
