Who insures you? -Insurance Directory & Information-
I made this thread because of how difficult it can be to find the right place to get insurance in the GTA & surrounding areas.

I'm 20, I have a few tickets and a suspension and it has not been easy for me.

I moved out to BC for 2 years and my insurance was only $100/month for just liabiltly. I am now being turned down by many company's for my 1990 325i (my record doesn't help) and or ridiculas prices.

Please post recommended insurance company's or brokers, and additional information for other members to see. I noticed a thread with some very helpful information about insurance, but not regarding price.

I must say best of luck finding insurance in Ontario. I'm 20 aswell, Spotless record and I have my AZ, been driving since 16, and to go under my own insurance lowest quote i got was 210 a month from TD but since my car isnt stock they wont insure it and everywhere else wanted 500-1200$ a month.... i literally had to put my car under my moms name so it could go under her insurance (make me principal driver) that way they dont have to look at the vehicle we just said "its stock"

oh and now im paying 210 a month under my moms insurance. thats just liability too..... insurance is a big rip off in ontario

My insurance is 92$ a month for full coverage, 500$ deductible on a 2001 M Roadster with limited glass. I have two speeding tickets from years ago.

You are probably older then 25 then. When I turn 25 my insurance will drop to like 60$ a month full coverage. We are both young still

I am 25.

nab24- 04-06-2012 12:17 AM

Yea that's why. My brothers insurance dropped from 180$ a month to 75$ a month when he turned 25

if you have relative that live in barrie or orangeville, try getting an address there and insurance in significantly lower than brampton or mississauga......i got a td insurance quote of 400 a month with a brampton address but only 165 with an address in 23

propr'one 04-06-2012 01:15 AM

^^if you do that, your insurance company has reason to deny your claim. (You are committing fraud.)

My insurance was about 165$ last month (when i was 24)

momax_powers 04-06-2012 01:18 AM

i should add that when using that address...stay there and live there

momax_powers 04-06-2012 01:19 AM

"insurance doesnt say u are not aloud to visit your parents house and stay for extended periods of time"

propr'one 04-06-2012 01:46 AM

You think an insurance company lawyer would have a hard time proving where you really live?

momax_powers 04-06-2012 01:59 AM

because of bramptons high insurance i know many people who are forced to do this...4-600 a month is outrageous for people in the early 20s who have decent records. People feel that they are getting scammed so they are less incline to be totally honest with insurance companies....nobody tells the complete truth when filling out insurance forms i.e kms driven per year, distance to work etc. and a insurance lawyer could technically deny a claim for any one of those things...same shit different pile. It is fraud but so is saying you drive 15000km a yr when u actually drive 30000km. And from personal experience from friends and family who have done this....they havent had any problems with claims or insurance lawyers. Lawyers usually get involved when it comes to injury extremely high injury claims with regards to if your actually hurt or not and if the healing process is reasonably priced.

I just spent hours a week ago speaking to over 20 companies and agents and checking insurance hotlines online.
I received quotes as high as 700$, most were in the 350-450$ range. (full coverage on the M5)
Aviva beat all of them by a fair amount.

I am 25 (26 in july), one ticket that comes off in december and no insurance history.

All depends where you live too... When I was 24, living with my parents in Mississauga, my '92 Prelude was $160 a month. Turned 25, got married, moved into my own place my 2 cars (new at the time 2002 Sentra SE-R and '92 prelude and my house) were running me about $295 a month. That's with an at fault accident in the '02 SE-R - Bad weather, slid into the curb, bent axle, etc...

Now, I'm 35, in Milton, '07 Z4, '07 MDX, '06 TL (all with 2 drivers) and my house run me $285 a month total. That's with an accident just a month ago (right before my renewal) but I have accident forgiveness with my package.

Milton's gotta have some the lowest rates around that I've seen...

Suspensions gotta be the biggest red flag on yours... you really should be more responsible while driving, it'll be cheaper for you...
