325i Fair asking price?

Hello fellow enthusiasts,

I'm just curious to see what the value on my car could be seeing as its relatively low mileage for the year and I could be interested in selling this spring.

Details:
- 2001 325i
- only 88,000 km
- Manual Transmission
- Non-sport package
- 18" VMR V710 reps
- Magnaflow catback
- K&N 57 Series intake
- BimmerBrake Headers
- Xenon lights

E46s are drastically down in price -- I'd say 6 or 7k with the wheels? Most over that are having a hard time selling from what I've seen

BimmerGuys 02-05-2012 10:02 AM

Last week i sold a 2001 320i with 180km for $6000. I would ask $9000 retail for it.

ac_2007 02-05-2012 10:19 AM

Even with only 88k on the dash?
For $9000 I'd prefer to drive it till the wheels fall off.

Plenty of facelifts with 160k+ are asking 12 to 15k on Kijiji.

cormier 02-05-2012 10:21 AM

I would try then, and keep it if you don't get what you want for it

There's lots of 46s going for under 6 now too

pearl_iroc 02-05-2012 11:52 AM

There are e46s out there going for 3k too. However all these lower priced e46s in the 3-6k ish range are either 320s or 323s or have very high mileage and look beat up. I agree with the above poster that 9k would be a good asking price.

Facelifts w/160k aren't selling for 15k, no matter what they are asking. E46 prices have tanked, big time. (Says the guy who sold his 150k '04 manual trans touring for $8500. It hurt.) I think it would take a long time to sell even at $9k, frankly...though the car appears to be very clean.
Lots of tire kicking and false promises selling through kijiji. I've had a number of board members (here) even contact me through kijiji telling me "they'll pick it up this weekend", only to no show, or later tell me they don't have any money.

Good luck with the sale...selling cars is only getting harder as buyers increasingly seem not to respect the sellers time.

Its easily worth over $8k-$9k, I would say more but the year hurts a bit and takes away from km's, kind of a catch 22. One good, one bad.

I see plenty of e46's and yes they can be had for $4k BUT that $4k is a POS! youll spend $XXXX on and has high mileage.

A "good" e46 with little to no issues at all and 100k-150k are $6500-$10k+ all day if xi or higher model.

Note I said "asking 12-15k" *wiggle*

The car is super clean, just retrofitted the OBC stalk, LED interior lights, and flashed the DME to Euro2 this winter while in storage. The body is way too clean for me to sell at even 10k.

Guess I'll be searching for a S/C kit this spring, and cross my fingers for the S54/6-speed swap eventually *angel*

$9000 if you want people to ask about it... $6500 if you want it sold within a reasonable time frame... Remember, just cuz YOU think its an awesome car, other people are gonna think is an awesome CHEAP car... we are talking about a car that is 10+ years old...

Old skool and Classics don't make RARE and VINTAGE...

If you wanna sell it. Sell it.
If you wanna make money off it... well thats a different story.

Is the milage documented? If not, the #'s on the cluster mean nothing.
Also the amount of aftermarker parts can play agains you, as most people are looking of all original, OEM base, to start modding. Also the bodywork/paint not matching could keep the value down.

ac_2007 02-07-2012 11:52 AM

Well since you asked, the car is accident free and never had any kind of claim.

Only 88k km because it was a summer car driven by a woman in Kitchener.
Purchased it at 74k, and it's never seen a snowflake.

To the guy who said $6500, there is absolutely no E46 of the same condition and mileage you'll find for that amount. Even so, looks like I'll pass this car on to my children ;)

Lol I'm thinking the same thing of mine, which wouldn't sell for nearly as much as yours lol

njansenv 02-07-2012 12:18 PM

Put it up for sale for what you think it's worth. (Which is?)
If it sells, we're wrong, and good for you. You asked our opinion on the internet, and you don't like it.
If it doesn't sell, then you haven't lost anything.

What makes you say that? I was expecting low figures.

Just stating the fact that you won't find an 01 with my mileage for $6500. Guess that doesn't matter too much nowadays, huh.
My car is the iPhone 2 in the era of the 4s yes, yes ;)

Or maybe its a Nokia :D
