Help. Other car advice please!
Right now I have a saab 9000cs as a DD. I need to get rid of it so am looking for another car. Wife says 4 doors and good on gas. I can't pay much, around 2500. I am looking for 4cyl turbo something. I want sporty and to have some power. all i have come up with so far is maybe is a Subaru Legacy GT. I am looking for suggestions. Saab has 170hp so it needs to be something as quick or more powerful then the Saab. please list anything that may meet my needs. cheers and ty.

good luck with $2500? you must have too much cash to spend. i picked up the Saab for $1000 off a kid who's got liscense sespended. there is a lot out there for even 1500, I am only looking in the 90's and once i have figured out the model and make i will get whatever it is i want, its not hard, just takes looking. Please keep posting ideas guys. I also need to be able to fit my 3 beautiful kids in the back, but no suv or wagon or minivans for me.

What is your definition of "good on gas"?

I would guess that a early 90's 4 door integra is faster than that saab.

Along with these cars i was also wondering about volvo, Acura, mazda. I don't care about how small the info is, let me have it.

I've had two Hyundai Elantras, They're fantasic. Very reliable. The first one I had I only put $250 into over 2 years. My current one I have put only $900 in 2.5 years. Not including oil changes.

My current one I bought for $3000 certified and etested 2.5 years ago.

156 hp, 5-speed. great gas mileage.

still thinking
So i have narrowed it to
Audi B5 A4, not sure if all the repair cost rumors are true
Sentra S-ER

I really do not care about doing work on a car, hey they are used so no big deal, i just can't afford to have a car thats in the shop once a month. A lot of crap has been said about the Audi A4 but it was also said about the saab 9000 and that thing has not cost me anything and has been great. It obviously has a lot to do with prior maintenance, but there are also flaws built into every car, just depends how bad those flaws are. I am really leaning towards the Audi, just wondering who has driven one or has any knowledge as to ownership costs and issues. E36 318i is on the list for sure, would love the 325i but not sure about fuel cost. Sentra is just there because i owned one before, not S-ER but GXE and wouldn't die, I really want all or rear wheel drive though. Hey thanks for helping and please let me know if you have any good info on the Audi vs E36.

yeah you cannot be srs.

The cars you chose are all $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ in repairs.

new2bmw 02-21-2012 12:42 PM

i can do all repairs myself as long as we aren't talking engine internals, no worries there.

under 6k e36:

headers+gaskets, exhaust, cat , o2, valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, shifter bushings, front control arms, balljoints, bushings, rear control arms , Rtabs, bushings, waterpump, belts, pulleys, plugs, air boots, maf, brakelines ( often) tranny, etc etc etc

Audi, not very far behind minus tranny but plus electrical gremlins

Nissan, oil burner

Good luck!!!
