Munich BMW Museum
So as some of you know, I went backpacking around Europe for the past few months. I just got back about a week ago and finally got around to uploading all the pics I took while in the BMW Museum and Welt in Munich, Germany. It was pretty cool, but to be honest I was expecting a little more. I uploaded them all to a photobucket account since there were so many and the forum albums only allow a certain amount of pictures per album. Some were taken with a point and shoot, the others with an iPhone 3GS because the camera battery ran out. lol
I posted a few of my favourites for everyone to see. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...m/PICT0837.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...m/PICT0835.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...m/IMG_0539.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...m/PICT0830.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...m/PICT0806.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...m/IMG_0569.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...m/IMG_0543.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...m/PICT0842.jpg http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v6.../BMW%20Museum/ |

That's an e31 850 vert.

I would live in there ! |
Sweet, I can't wait to visit there one day.
What were you disappointed about? How does it compare to other car museums you've been too? From the pictures it looks like alot more cars than the Lamborghini and Ferrari museums I've been to in Italy. |
Being an e36 owner I was dissapointed in the e36 content, or lack there of. It seemed to be the forgotten model in the entire place. Even in the M Power exhibit, they had nearly every M except an e36 which I found somewhat dissapointing. Aside from the lack of e36's, it was a very nice museum. Very sleek and clean, I felt like I was in the future while inside. lol
I also forgot to upload the video I took there as well. Just as you walk in, there is a room to the right that had this in it. When I first walked in it looked like an X5, so I recorded and caught this. It is not a computer screen, those were real balls on strings. |
that e30 is convertible is soo out of place doesn't belong there.:)

I could spend days here http://speedhunters.com/archive/2009...ollection.aspx I still had a blast though. I wish I knew about booking for the tour of the assembly facility, would have loved to see that. Most people also probably don't know that, altough probably expensive, you can rent a few different classics in Munich (1802, 3.0cs, Z1, and a few others) |
While you were there, did you have a chance to go on the factory tour? It was fantastic, took my family there 2 years ago it was a blast then hung around the Welt and the restaurant for the rest of the day. Unfortunately no pictures could be taken during the factory tour - it was so long that the group took a long break mid-way.

Like Bullet Ride said, I didn't know you had to book months in advance for the Welt tour. I was extremely dissapointed when I was told that there was that long of a wait for a tour. So for anyone planning to make the trip to Munich, make sure you book the Welt tour before you leave! lol

Just as an FYI, I emailed BMW Classic about their guided tours, here's the response:

Really, a z3M and not one e36 M3? Wheres the m3 LTW ? Somebody call Munich and tell them they skipped an important decade lol;)

I agree, it looks great from outside but the expectation dies when you're inside. I gave props to Porsche museum over BMW in Stuttgart. That was something.
