Need 2 turbos rebuilt... what shop?
I have two K03 turbo chargers that need a refresh. Does anybody here have good experience with a shop in the GTA?
|
If your up for it I found a good diy, its bookmarked on my comp tho, which I will be at tomorrow evening... I have a similar perdicament, although my turbos are for my M20 engine :D ... I was planning to do it myself, but I am interested if you find a shop that will do it, I looked briefly and there wasn't much in terms of specific turbo places

I've found one spot in brantford. I'll be dropping it there unless i find some competition to at least research. If there's nothing else, I'll post back and let you know how it goes.
The reason I wouldn't rebuild a turbo myself is they need to be balanced properly, and with no equipment, you can't balance it. |
Ive read that too, although Ive heard of enough success with guys just using the better quality rebuild kits (ie the ones that cost 100$+), and as long as everything's aligned properly they will work just fine ... they usually mark everything before dissassembly.. i'll get you that link in an hour ish

here ya go...
lots of pics http://vagdrivers.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=23532 kkk instructions http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...have-them.html random turbo rebuild http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w123...some-pics.html after reading alot of stuff on the vw vortex forum and other audi ones they seem to have little problems as long as the rebuild kits good quality if I remember correctly the factory only balances the shaft with the two turbines attached.. and since its not assembled in its housing first, as long as all your markings line up it should be balanced well enough... would your turbos be coming from an S4? |
They are indeed for my B5 S4. She's a fun little car when working. I'll read through those link tomorrow, thanks for the info!

lol I can Imagine, I have a few buddys with em, must have been fun getting your turbos out :D

Nothing really, they practically slide right out. The sad thing is the car i worked on before this was my W116 Mercedes 450 and it's a joy to work on, you can do anything on it with relative ease, the starter was a pain but everything else almost didn't need a lift lol.

Lol I guess so in that condition,,, howcome you arnt switching to K04's? That seems to be the popular fix for the used K03's
|
I'm sure you've already seen 'cherry turbos' but their pretty far, amazing how one of the largest cities in canada doesn't have a turboshop near by ... Maybe if my school design project this year goes well Ill start one :P

I'm using the k03 housing, and upgrading. I'm gonna go with a professional in bradford. Before I even try and mention a business name I'll see what they bring back.
A turbo place I think would do well as it's pretty much non existant, though I dunno how many need rebuilding, but in a city the size of TO... Thanks for the recomend Jeremy, I already dropped em off somewhere. |
