s52 low oil pressure
 

well i just had my s52 rebuilt with new pistons/ bearings complete new head, and i get low oil pressure about 5-7 psi at Hot idle after the oil temp rises to operating temp. I am really stumped and not sure what to do other than pulling it out again and checking all the clearances, but all the bearings are new so not sure :( iam using 10w40 oil started with 5w30

well these motors are known to have low oil pressure at idle but did you check the pickup for cracks in the neck?

My old motor did the same once the car hit normal temp.

Where does it start when cold? Does the pressure hit 60 psi at higher revs (6000rpm)? If so, I would not worry about it. If not, you have issues ...

interesting. I use 5W30 in my 328is.. never burns or leaks and always has good pressure.. Can't say the same for start-up

ok well i changed everything lol other than 2 thing oil squirters/ jets and the check valve in the head. i got great pressure at 3000 rpm. At cold idle my pressure is around 25 psi than slowly drops to min i just see that light on it never did this before but researching lots of peeps have this problem :( what do u think??

does anybody no what normal oil temp is in city driving is???

What are you running at now?

in this weather it's 180 when my oil light comes on :( and my pressure is close to 8 psi and at 160-170 it's at 10 psi
