Shop/Mechanic for Inspection 2?

Hi all,

Looking for recommendations for a non-dealer mechanic/shop to perform an inspection 2 at a reasonable cost. Dealer's quote around $1200 (interestingly BMW Toronto quoted $1400 and Budds $1050..go figure).

Thanks

if you're near markham/east end, you can bring it to the shop i work at. i dont usually advertise but i happen to see your post while im lurking.

NV Euro Motor Works
4600 Highway 7 East (highway 7 and kennedy)
(905) 604-3950

i just turn wrenches, so i cant give you a quote, but call in and ask to speak to Trevor or Nim and they can give you an estimate.

Who else here uses Autobahn East. I have been to RMP but its a bit too far... i usually go to Lakeside but thats a bit far for me also.

Autobahn would be closer but knowledge of mechanic is important and also not play the replace everything strategy while fixing things.

saw the shop once during the summer, a buddy of mine knows them. They do euro cars and seem to have a good rep.

Bimmex in woodbridge is pretty good. They Definitely know what they are doing and a good atmosphere while you are there unlike some shops.

What's the deal with Bimmex/Europa? Before I did alot of 'homework' on the forum, I took my 540 to them (Markham location) for an Inspection II (which went fine) then when I searched for some feedback on the forum there was all this drama a couple years ago involving the owner or somesuch, can't recall all the details.

Anyways, I'd endorse them as well, just seems they didn't have a great rep with this community at one point or another, which is a bit of a turn off. The other shops represented seemed to have a steller rep.

Also, I saved about $200-250 off Inspection II by doing the spark plugs/filters by myself. I told them in advance and they were like 'No problem'. I think I paid around $600 for the service, although my total bill was ~$1100 because I flushed the coolant, brakes, and replaced the thermostat.
