suspension

i want to change all 4 shocks and springs.

does anyone know a reasonable quality/price brand I can look for?

I've looked up Eibach kit - $1000.

But im not into racing or anything. I just need to replace my crap because one of my shocks has failed.

Suggestions? I drive a 99 E46 323i

Dont want to lower things because It'll throw my alignment off.
But I wouldn't mind a little firmer ride ;)

I will be doing the install myself.

How about H&R cup kit? Comes with shocks and springs to match. Lowers by about 1.5 F and 0.7 rear for touring kit and something like 2.2 front and 1.5 r for race. Can be picked up for around 800

My 330ci on stock sport suspension ride about the same as my old A4 on H&Rs/Bilsteins. So I would imagine the 330 sport suspension would be a good upgrade for you.

If you don't want to lower your car, I'd keep an eye on the classifieds for ZSP, ZHP, or maybe even M3 suspension parts.

We have Bilsteins, if interested please pm or call.

Thanks! All good info. I wouldn't mind a used set either ... given that is hasnt been ridden on for like 80K.

Will the 330/M3 suspension parts fit on my car?

I have my stock e46 m3 suspension in my closet still. About 60k on them and they have been in there for about 2 years. Don't know if they'd work but if they do then give me a shout. Rear springs have had the tips snapped as it is a common issue.

M3 suspension won't work, if you want to drop a little and stay stock you have to get a suspension from a non-m coupe/vert, or sedan that came with the sport suspension.

Im not opposed to after-market... just after-market prices.

I found a seller who has sport front shocks and a set of 4 ZHP springs for sale. how can i tell if the shocks and springs are in good condition? and in fact sport/zhp I don't want to buy someones shot shocks and bouncy springs.

What is a reasonable price to pay for two used front sport struts and 4 zhp springs?

DaveM3_09 04-05-2011 11:36 AM

check out the for sale forum.. i got stock front struts/shocks from e46 m3, 18k on them, selling for $200

If what another poster said was right...then you can't use M3 suspension.
only 320, 323, 325, 330... sedan or 2-door, or convertible...
Does it matter between i and xi and facelift and pre-facelift?

M3 suspension will fit but will ride higher.

is vogtland any good? Im looking at some vogtland springs with OEM sport shocks. can they be mated this way?

will there be an improvement over OEM (non sport suspension)?

I dont care at all for a drop in ride hight - its all about road-feel for me.

If all you want is a slight drop then grab a set of sport springs from a 3 series bmw (330ci is the best). Springs should cost you anywhere from $100-$200 for the set. Check online at turner motorsports website and get the BMW Sport Suspension kit for $500. comes with sport struts/shocks and suspension components. Nice easy swap with new parts. Other option is the H&R Cup Kit ... great package for the money. Regardless of what you do, you'll need an alignment anyways ... which is only $90.

can't go wrong with bilstein, h&r, eibach, koni.

dcramer 04-06-2011 10:02 PM

you can get OEM height springs from wunderkar in toronto if you don't want to lower the car
