E36 high KM

I'm new here and and i want to know if 200 000km+ e36 are reliable for purchase or for a bimmer in general??? ... because thats what i see the most in my area. They clean and all its just KM that i'm more worried... should i???

Milage and condition are two different things...You can get a low milage car that was neglected (or not even original milage), or you can find one that has a few Km but is well kept. The KEY to this is records!!! Find out as much possible about what was done to the car, and when.

my buddy purchased a 325 e36 1995 with 450000km november 2009,
until today (dec 23, 2010) he hasnt spent a 1$ on the engine, not even on brakes
and car still runs, he drove 30 000 km on it

my 325 has just passed 350,000km bought it last year with 270,000 and its still running great. all i did was new plugs, valve cover gasket and i have a small oil leak which i will fix in the next little while. oil feed line, just need to put in a couple of o rings. been very very good to me. if its well maintained you could easily see somewhere in the half mil range in klicks easy

i have 356,000 on mine, still runs like a top!

just passed 255, 500 on my '96 328i yesterday and still runs awesome - and gets up and runs like a scalded cat!

Did a tune up when I bought it last September, and that's it.

That's good to know! I have a 318ti with 131 500km, I should keep it for looong and loong time!

BUT the 1000$ question is : It this the original engine, on your bud's car?

how many of you are running original suspension and exhaust?

blk3 12-28-2010 09:10 PM

mine, original suspension. no. exhaust yes

iverson03tj 12-30-2010 10:15 AM

OEM suspension wears our fast... like i think its usually 25,000km to 35,000 km.. first thing i did was replace mines shocks with a longer lasting koni ones..

///M318ti 12-30-2010 11:35 AM

Suspension is all stock but I have a Remus exhaust. I'd like to get a stiffer suspension (at least only coils) Do anybody know who makes stiffer/lower coils for e36 318ti?

iverson03tj 12-31-2010 12:01 AM

too many to name... check bimmerworld... uuc... bf.c
