CPO question
My E90 burns oil and I find myself having to top it up every month because the +1L light shows up. [I drive it hard]

I use to work near 404 and Eglinton so whenever it came on I would just drive to Parkview and they would top it up no questions asked.

Fast forward 2 months and I work in Oakville and I was going to go to Budd;s but the gentleman said that they will charge me for the service as I bought the car from Endra's and not them.

I don't get it, if its a CPO - I'm pretty sure you can take it to any authorized dealer regardless where you bought the car (i.e. I bought it in Ontario, so I can take it to any dealer in Ontario).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this pissed me off a bit today.

You are correct - CPO's are transferrable and can be brought to any BMW dealership (don't know if it applies only to the country it was purchased though). I don't know about the topping up of oil though as that would be a consumable item and not a warranty matter. If it was warranty isn't there a deductible that you need to pay for each visit?

My question is, why the hell is your car burning THAT much oil (regardless of how you drive it)

My E30 doesn't burn any oil, and my gf says I race the car everytime I drive lol. I'm with them wondering why a new E90 is burning oil at all :S

Do you guys ever read Bimmer magazine?

I remember reading one of the buyer's guide/market updates once where Mike Miller was ranting about 'lifetime' fill fluids, extended oil change intervlas and whatnot. Basically he was saying that BMW started doing that at the same time they started offering free maintenance for the warranty period, and that he's not buying it.

Apparently all cars used to get a 1200 mile break-in oil change. After free maintenance came in they only did it on M cars anymore. I think that the article in question must have been about E46s, because I seem to remember him chalking up the excessive oil consumption of many 3.0L M54s to the lack of a break-in oil change. I don't remember the details of why this would happen, but that always stuck in my mind. The OPs situation reminded me of it.

Oil isn't included in the CPO program. Parkview just has better customer service.

Also, BMW considers oil consumption of 1L/1000km normal (I don't agree) so I don't think the CPO program will help you out anyways in terms of repairs.
