1984 318i Build (1jz content)
Hi guys, I've always loved e30's and had always planned to get one. Recently I bought myself an 84 318i with very minimal rust as a project car. A few weeks and a bunch of research later I picked up a 1jz gte motor, tranny, ecu, and harness to be swapped in over the winter.
Here is a list of everything that will be going in over the winter:
-1jz gte stock tt motor
-r154 5 speed transmission
-3.73 lsd differential
-28x12x3 front mount intercooler
-Greddy rs BOV and turbo timer
-custom 3" downpipe and exhaust
-16gal. fuel cell
-e34 brake booster
After all that is done I plan to tackle the suspension and brakes.

And cleaned up the diff a little bit before replacing the fluid and re-installing it.
If you need rear trailing arms with discs, w/ or w/o ABS, I got a set for ya... I am eagerly looking to see this build finished, looks interesting!

Rear end is installed now, tonight I'm de-greasing the engine bay and getting it ready for a slight shave while I wait for my intercooler.
I was tempted to look at this car when it was for sale.
I'm happy to see it's in good hands.
What colour is that?
I don't think it's an oem colour. it was originally silver....no matter though. It's getting a 100% respray next year after I get 91 bumpers.

Today I dropped the 1jz in just to check clearances and to get an idea of how the mounts need to be fabricated.
The motor will sit lower, I just need a front sump oil pan as right now it sits on my crossmember
Mounts line up perfectly, I just need to extend the mount arms that are bolted to the motor and install some poly bushings.
And the 16 gal fuel cell in it's new home
ok I've been trying to save some funds for the build so in the mean time I've prepped the bay by removing the crazy amount of factory seam sealer, removing all unnecessary brackets and bolts, and smoothing everything out before painting it black. I've also rerouted the headlight harness through the driver side fender, and the fuse box power wire behind the firewall for a cleaner look. Pictures will be added shortly.
Right now I'm prepping my motor to be dropped in...for this i still need an e28 booster, a clutch/flywheel, new timing/serpentine belts, and some gaskets. After all that is on I'll be ordering pre-made swap mounts to avoid any headaches. keep checking back for updates.

Looks awesome. I seriously considered putting a 1j in my E30, but I never had the time space or resources to do it. I actually was going to go look at that car for a winter beater haha.
Thanks! just looking over my options in the begining I figured for not too much more hassle than an m50 swap I get 297hp with no engine or turbo modifications. And i found a good deal on the motor so...
it seems that a lot of people looked at the add when the car was for sale. It was also a steal IMO.
