Hey everyone,

I'm selling parts from my M42 which was swapped out earlier this summer for an M50. The engine had 217927 KM at that time.

For anyone interested, take a look at my fuel log here: http://www.fuelly.com/driver/voluted/318is
My motor ran very well before I swapped it out. Mileage shown on Fuelly is primarily local driving.

Complete vacuum hose set with idle control valve and intake boot. Fix your annoying up and down idle problem! These were all purchased new from BMW (except the ICV) back in 2007 and I can show you the receipt to prove it.
$40
Attachment 100351

Full set of coils with ignition wires and 1 year old NGK iridium spark plugs:
$30
Attachment 100352

Recently reconditioned injectors and fuel pressure regulator + fuel rail + injector harness. I have the receipt for the FPR but i'm not sure about the injectors. None of the pintle caps are damaged.
$30
Attachment 100356

Air flow meter with 3" cone filter adapter plate and home made bracket to hold the unit in place (bolt on). Includes the wire which was installed by BMW due to a TSB.
$20
Attachment 100354

80 AMP Bosch alternator for e30 M42:
$20
Attachment 100355

Upper and lower intake manifolds + throttle body:
$30
Attachment 100353

I will upload a video I took of the car when it had 195000 KM that includes a bit of idle and acceleration to show the health of the motor.

I'm interested in the AFM and ICV if you still have it. Q: Did you do any modifications to the bolts that conned the AFM to the filter housing?

voluted 09-27-2010 04:31 PM

I still have them. No modification at all was done to the AFM; the adapter plate simply unbolts. I also have a K&N drop in filter with low KM available if you are interested.

PM me an offer.

I couldn't find a hosting service that could host a pic this large, but this is the TSB for that wire that came with the MAF:

Interesting.. well my vin # is in the range for this recall, but as I pointed out the AFM must have been replaced at some point.

Strangely, with the adaptor installed, after 45 min of driving - when I got off the highway and into traffic the car started surging on idle and I had to pull over and remove the adaptor. This didn't correct the problem right away. I shut the car down for about 30 min and it was fine after. I think either moisture got into my AFM or the adaptor screwed up the fuel mixture. I wonder if resetting the fault codes would help? I'm going to try out your AFM tomorrow and go from there.

Troubleshooting the M42 is a PITA! You would think I'd have it down to a science by now? Maybe I need a BMW zip tie (pin# 16 13 1 382 243)

Hi, I'm aware this is a rather old post but you have or had what I'm looking for. Do you still have the intake boot and vacuum hoses for the m42?

Thanks,
Curtis

Hey, unfortunately I sold those quite some time ago.
